Need a Break from Reality?
Sometimes I need a break from reality to remind me that:
God is still on the throne
Sleep will eventually come
Schedules do slow down
Time flies SO fast that I must make the most of each moment and not get bogged down with the menial things that try to suck up my time.
So to take a mental vacation, I'd like to pose a question and give you my response...Certain songs always make me happy- I can't tell if its the tune, the words, the overall feel but I always smile, when I hear the following songs:
Anything by UB40 (especially Red, Red Wine & Can't Help Falling in Love)
Isn't She Lovely- Stevie Wonder
Eternal Flame- The Bangles
More Than Words- Extreme (as well as the Weird Al Parody of the same song)
Bust a Move- ??? Don't know who sings this song...
I Saw the Sign- Ace of Base
Livin on Love- Alan Jackson (oh and that song that goes, "way down yonder on the chatawhatever...)
Don't Take The Girl- A country artist (Tim McGraw?)
Whoomp There It Is!
Summertime- Will Smith
Maybe some of these songs remind me of my younger days when life was carefree and summer was here, the beach, the friends....ah....good times.
What songs make you happy? and/or What was your favorite summer activity/memory?

Wow, we have a lot more in common than I ever knew. All of those songs bring a smile to my face and a reminder of a good time long ago. Not that these days aren't good, b/c they are awesome but the songs are different now. Thanks for the reminder. :)
Oh, and it's good you are back. Give us an update of life now. Like when you are going back to work if you are, how Angelina and Chaise are with Ty etc...
Have you not discovered Google yet? Really.
To fill in your blanks:
Bust a Move- Young MC
Don't Take The Girl- You're right, it's Tim McGraw
Songs that make me smile:
Crazy Love by Beyonce
Open Arms by Journey
Groovy Kind of Love by Phil Collins
The Dance by Garth Brooks
(pretty much any of his early stuff gets me going)
When I See You Smile by Bad English
What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
Lady in Red by Chris DeBurgh?
Do You Think I'm Sexy? by Rod Stewart
Oh, I could go on all day.
My favorite summer memories come from after my parents split and my mom moved us to Virginia. Every summer, for 2 or 3 months, I would go back to Kansas to visit my dad. He worked all day, so I roamed the streets like a wild child. Just kidding... but I was pretty much free to do what I wanted. I also spent a lot of time with my cousin. I had so many summer romances. I learned to love country music and drive stick-shift. It was a magical time... we lived fully because we were young and we knew our time was short.
I miss summers like that.
