It's time for us to act...
In light of the current crisis in our nation due to Hurricane Katrina I encourage you to act. It's easy to feel so disconnected from something when we are comfortable in our lives and enjoying the everyday luxuries we too often take for granted...
The Bible says as Christians we are Christ on the Earth. If Jesus were physically walking on the earth today, what would he be doing? I can tell you he'd be right there in the midst of the action, pitching in, giving hope and help to those in need. How do I know this? I just read what he did while he DID live on the earth and fast forwarded to today...He was a man of action. As his representatives we should be acting in his stead, bringing the same hope and help to our fellow countrymen.
Our church is a part of an organization called ARC (Association of Related Churches)
based in Baton Rouge, LA. They are on the frontlines of the relief effort as they are so close to all of the refugees of New Orleans and surrounding areas. They are hooking up with the Red Cross and FEMA.
As a church we will hook up with them to offer whatever support we can... Click HERE to find out what you can do!

THank you for this website link. I have felt so helpless. I feel like all I can do it pray. There are a few of us who are going to get a care package together and send it. Hopefully that will be a blessing.
Thank you Noelle for encouraging people as well as your church community to get involved. Scott Hodge's church is getting involved as well.
This really blesses me because the majority of my family lives in Biloxi which was one of the hardest hit areas in Mississippi. My parents lost both their house and small business. The other family members who still have their homes have a lot of repair work to complete.
Rachel, please do not feel helpless that all you could do was pray. That is the first thing that the citizens who were affected by this tragedy need. As humans, we typically want to DO something. However, I think a lot of times we forget that we are doing something when we pray! We are working through the spiritual realm to change things and that is where change needs to happen first!
Again, thank you for your efforts! I can tell you that it is appreciated and a blessing.
Thankfully none of my family lost their lives during this storm. However, they lost many material items as well as irreplaceable things such as photo albums and family memorabilia.
