Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Slate's recent article on the increased prices of coffee at America's Favorite dealers of caffeine, made me wonder, I am I one of their addicts? Are you?
A collection of daily thoughts, ideas and links from a mom still seeking to acheive the "balance" of a spiritual journey, family, inner peace, carreer, world peace...while "trying" to look like a supermodel at the same time...

I don't like to think of myself as an addict.
However, I do drink at least one cup of coffee every weekday. Weekends, it's hit and miss. But I drink Folgers at work, so I think I'm better off than those who drink Starbucks every day.
I will say that I've changed my drinking habits due to pricing. I used to stop off for an iced caramel macchiato (I'm not going online to check if I spelled that right...) but now I don't because I could get a meal at McDonalds for what I pay for that drink. (Another bad habit of mine... Mickey-D's.) And now I order a cafe mitzo, because it's much cheaper (and less calories) than the others.
Starbucks has succeeded at making their name synonymous with coffee. Just like you ask for a "Kleenex" instead of a tissue or a "Coke" when you mean a soda, most of us think "Starbucks" when we mean latte.
No definately not. I am not trendy enough to even go in Starbucks let alone be an addict. If you are interested though I am addicted to Big Macs (I knew I liked Betsy for a reason, j/k) and I love a cup of english tea. Don't laugh but after being in England for so long there is no way I can ever drink what americans call hot tea.
I like Starbucks but not for their coffee. I like their Chai Teas especially in Frap form. I don't feel that I"m addicted simply because I have all but quit drinking them because of the outlandish cost of the drinks. I'm sorry but sugar, water, milk and a little chai tea with spices doesn't cost 4 bucks.
