sick...

The other night two of my friends were having their last supper before they ran the PF Changs Rock 'n' Roll marathon... Kudos to Tonya and Jen...they truly rock. They ran the 1/2 marathon, and I was truly impressed, considering the weather did not help with their last minute training. So in honor of their hard work, I decided to cook them a good hearty meal the night before they ran. Turkey spaghetti sauce, pasta, salad and strawberry shortcake. So we're all sitting around the table yapping after dinner when everyone begins to realize that I keep dipping my fork onto my empty plate, and sticking it into my mouth. What was I doing? Well I had used the very last of my Paul Newman's orignial salad dressing to toss the salad and there was a little pool of it left on my plate. This is my absolute FAVORITE salad dressing available. Something about the flavors...So I am dipping my fork and sucking the salad dressing off of it. After a few snide remarks, they said, "Why don't you just lick your plate." I laughed, secretly wishing they weren't there, so I could do just that. I just "needed" it.

As I am coming out of what seems like an eternity of sickness, I have found that my appetite is back- especially for salty things. Chips and salsa, popcorn, ranch dip with veggies, anything with that salty flavor... What is the deal?!!???

I knew it was bad when today I walked into the work kitchen and spied a jar of green olives. Now mind you, it was right after lunch, but the saltiness in those olives lured me in. I got a bowl and poured about 8 olives in. My boss gave me a funny look as I began to eat them. I just shrugged. When I finished them, I wanted more. I'm like a bottomless pit for salty things, at this rate I'll blow up like the Good Year Blimp! When I was all alone, I began to dip my fork into the olive juice just to savor the salty taste. That's when I knew I was sick.

Pregnancy, I tell ya, I hate it.

Just to see you smile

Wanna see a little girl's eyes light up? Simply tell her, "This Friday when you wake up, we're going to fly on a plane, and guess where we're going to go?"

pause...silence...smile

"DISNEYLAND!!!!!!"

She's never been there, but it's like the ethereal utopia that every child approaching 3 years old can only dream about. Her eyes light up and the smile that ensues is indescribable...
