metromom

A collection of daily thoughts, ideas and links from a mom still seeking to acheive the "balance" of a spiritual journey, family, inner peace, carreer, world peace...while "trying" to look like a supermodel at the same time...

Craving...

Special thanks to Matt's post - I now have the urge to have a COLD glass of milk to dunk a pile of oreos in...

Nothing else will satisfy.

Getting Yer Groove On...

We saw the movie Hitch on Valentine's day and my husband got it in his head we need to dance. Now mind you, we are the epitome of white. I once had my roommate, Denise, try to teach me moves, it didn't help. In fact in the 11 years I did ballet, timing was my one issue...my teacher would always say, "Can't you hear the beat?" "Uhhh...it's classical music..." -then she'd count it out for me ...5...6...7...8. It's not that I can't hear it, I just have to try harder than others- and if someone is clapping off beat, I'll follow them every time. It is really sad. So, needless to say I'm quite self-conscious about my dancing which prohibits me from cutting loose in "da club" and what not. And what is cool or sexy about a big bellied, off kilter woman without a sense of rhythm trying to dance? Nothing I tell you. Nothing.

In an effort to convince me and a friend, who is also quite self-consious about her moves, that we should just forget what the naysayers think and give it our all, he brought in the experts. The other night he had my sister-in-law, Jessica, try to school us (as she is one of those dancers who makes it seem SO easy...but its not.)

I have a feeling that this is sort-of what we must have looked like:

Thanks Jenny for the link! It made me laugh!
